Google Cultural Institute & Pamanang Bedista

FIRST BLOG POST: GOOGLE CULTURAL INSTITUTE & PAMANANG BEDISTA

Essay 1: A World 1899 by Maximilian Lenz

The first time I saw this painting, I was visually amazed because of its symbolic self-portrait, which places it in a fantasy world. A vision of blue-dressed girls surrounding him as in a dream. The man depicted isolation, in a realistic interpretation. The artist, put the man in an explosive tension with the duality by his daydreaming landscape. It is really full of emotion, that could take you from his situation.

The composition lies in the fact that the symbolism of the content and form, in response to the "mystical worship of beauty" that regales the eye - the expectation of art, bears the dissonance that has precipitated the general attitude towards life of the era, modernization and the consciousness of social crisis induced by industrialization.

Essay 2: Higante by Jericho Vamenta

For me, it is the best portrait I saw in the Pamanang Bedista. Its color and the texture were absolutely amazing. Even though the color was just only one, it is simply perfect to the image. Texture, neatly and precisely did. I think, the technique he used in that art was color etching. When I was 3rd year high school, We're assigned to do that. And I wasn't able to do that because It was indeed difficult.

The canvas reflects in our society (it was just only in my observation) because here in our country, the so called "higante" was characterized as the fortunate people. The people who have money have an authority. And the artist aims to make people understand this. He wants to disseminate the message in every people, and I guess it succeeded.
